This week we have been very busy building our numeracy skills. Twister on the number mat was quite challenging for the participants and very entertaining for the spectators.
We were given a box of old till rolls which provided a great opportunity for us to practice writing skip counting sequences for 2s, 5s, and 10s.
Some of us have started thinking about place value using bundles of lollie sticks to represent groups of tens.
In literacy we have been working as a team to find as many words containing the digraph 'th' e.g. 'the', 'other' and 'teeth'.
We have also started a buddy reading programme where some Year 3 children from Room 9 come and share reading books with some of our Room 10 friends after morning tea.
Some of us went on the Matariki lantern walk on Wednesday evening and a very beautiful lantern was shared at news time.
Our poem this week was about a Taniwha and we also created our own taniwha's using tux paint in ICT and then wrote descriptions of them. Check out our work below.
This is my taniwha and my taniwha is growly and my taniwha is
mean.
